Speaker ed. 2021 | Area Virtual Reality
Daniel Freeman is a Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford, a Fellow of University College Oxford, and a consultant clinical psychologist in Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. He also founded a University of Oxford spin-out company, Oxford VR. The purpose of his work is to make significant advances in the psychological understanding and treatment of mental health disorders. His work therefore includes developing a theory, testing the theory in experimental research, using the advances in understanding to develop treatment, and conducting clinical trials. He is also committed to making the best evidence-based treatments as widely available as possible. He has been working with virtual reality (VR) since 2011. In recent years, he has been developing and testing automated psychological therapy delivered in VR. The potential is that such digital treatments can dramatically increase access to the best psychological treatments.
